BBQ

It’s that time of year again! Camp Craig Allen is holding their 6th annual BBQ cook off in Grapevine, Texas in Bass Pro’s parking lot on September 7th and 8th 2012.

We all enjoy the backyard BBQ where family and friends get together to have a great time and everyone eats way too much delicious food. You know that you’ve already eaten enough and your gut is about to bust, but just one more bite sure couldn’t hurt, could it?  What more could you want – good company, good food, beer and plenty of everything for everybody.

Well, for those of us who love to do the actual cooking, we do want more. We want to be challenged. We want to see if we are really as good as we think we are. We want to excel at cooking all kinds of meats – beef, pork, chicken and wild game. We want everyone to enjoy our efforts!

There’s nothing like getting involved in a worthwhile event and having some great competition at the same time. Hence, the creation of our BBQ team “Blind Squirrel BBQ”. This will be our second year to compete in the Camp Craig Allen’s Annual BBQ Cook Off for amateur cooks and we’re excited!  Since 2011 was our first time to participate in this event, we had a lot to learn, but we’ll be better prepared this year. We actually place 3rd with our BBQ sauce for 2011 and we hope to do much better this year.

Even though this event is hard work for the competitors, we had a great time competing last year and we expect to have even more fun this year! Remember, we aren’t only competing with other teams to see who is the best in the various meat preparations, we’re also participating in the “Best Begging Contest”. That’s right! We’re going to beg for donations to Camp Craig Allen. Whichever team gets the most donations for this wonderful non-profit organization will win the “Best Begging Contest” and we’re not shy. Check out our “Begging” page to see how serious we are about this contest.

We want everyone to come out and enjoy themselves! The cook off will be held at the Bass Pro Shop in Grapevine, Texas on September 7th and 8th, 2012. All proceeds raised by this event is for a wonderful and much needed cause!  For more information about this non-profit organization or the scheduled activities of the cook off, please visit Camp Craig Allen’s website.
